OVERVIEW OF SOLID MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT AT PAGEDONGAN PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER IN 2024

Abstract

Waste generated in a series of health service activities has a higher potential to cause infection and injury compared to other types of waste. Public health center is a health service facility that carries out public health efforts and first-level individual health efforts, prioritizing promotive and preventive efforts in its working area. Health center from its activities produces solid medical waste and non-medical waste. The aim of this research is to find out an overview of solid medical waste management at the PagedonganPublic Health Center. This type of research is descriptive, using an observational approach by conducting observations and interviews. The instruments used were questionnaires and check lists. The object of this research is solid medical waste at the PagedonganPublic Health Center. The results of research on solid medical waste management at the Pagedongan Public Health Center meet the requirements for sorting or containerization, collection, transportation, temporary storage and destruction. The conclusion of this research is that the implementation of solid medical waste management at the public health center Pagedongan has met the requirements in accordance with the requirements in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2023. It is hoped that the health center will conduct outreach to patients regarding the qualifications for medical and non-medical drop-off places carried out at the health center.
