Abstract

The degree of public health can be pursued by applying clean and healthy living behaviors. Washing hands and using latrines are indicators of clean and healthy living behavior in the household setting. Both of these behaviors can prevent a person from the risk of disease, but in practice not fully realized. The purpose of this study was to analyze clean and healthy living behaviors which include washing hands and using latrines. This research is a type of descriptive research with cross sectional approach. The study was conducted in Sokanandi Village, Banjarnegara District. Data collection is done by observation and interviews with a questionnaire guide. This study uses univariate analysis with a sample of 30 informants receiving latrine program. The results obtained show the behavior of washing hands before and after eating after bowel movements, after work, using running water and soap is already high. Hand washing behavior with the correct procedure is still low. There are behaviors that do not use healthy latrines in families of latrine program recipients as much as 16.7%. Health workers are expected to continue to increase awareness about washing hands and using latrines to the community in various activities involving local community leaders.
