Abstract

Scabies is one of the environment-based diseases that still occurs in Indonesia with a prevalence of 3.9%-6% in 2020. The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the description of environmental risk factors and knowledge in people with scabies in the Mandiraja 1 Health Centre Working Area in 2024.

This study included descriptive research with a cross sectional approach. The study population was people with scabies in the Mandiraja 1 Puskesmas Working Area who had examined themselves at the Puskesmas in the period January to March 2024. The sampling technique was random sampling. The data used in this study were primary data obtained from questionnaires and field observations and secondary data from Puskesmas Mandiraja 1. Data analysis was carried out in a univariate manner.

The results showed that the provision of clean water met the requirements (100%), most of the bathroom facilities met the requirements (58.5%), fecal disposal facilities met the requirements (53.7%), wastewater disposal facilities met the requirements (75.6%), garbage disposal facilities did not meet the requirements (85.4%), hand washing with soap facilities did not meet the requirements (87.8%), ventilation area met the requirements (80.5%), and respondents' knowledge was good (92.7%).

The conclusion of the study is that there are still several environmental risk factors that have not met the requirements even though the knowledge of most respondents is already in the good category. Health services are expected to increase environmental supervision more intensively so that these risk factors are controlled.
